7.2 - Execise: Usability test

7.1 - Execise: Sharing

List a couple of “places” on the web where you share.
What kind of things are you sharing?
–Who is the “audience”?
Why do you think that people share?

First of all this blog, this is made only because I need to share information.

Aalborg Cykelby (Aalborg - The cycling city)

Aalborg Kommune (Municipal District of Aalborg) will start a campaign with the title Aalborg Cykelby (Aalborg - The cycling city). The purpose of the campaign is to encourage citizens to cycle, inform about safety and to draw attention to all initiatives regarding infrastructure for cyclists.
Aalborg Kommune would like advise regarding the different possibilities promoting this campaign using different media. The target audience are citizens that can ride a bike – young and old. Cycling to and from work and school should have special attention.
Describe you ideas on how to solve this case using the theories of remediation and cross-media. Off course you have to justify your choices. I would like to see mockups/scetches/prototype.

Duration: 6 lessons.

4.2 - Execise: RIP - Movie - Remixing, copyright, copyleft

From what you experienced today write 10 lines (or so) on what you think about the documentary RIP, remixing, copyright, copyleft and Creative commons

4.1 - Execise: Find an example of some kind of cross-media

Cspot - er Danmarks nye digitale outdoor medie

En videre udvikling af disse skærme vil være at hver eneste skærm har et camera, og giver derfor muligheden til at vælge hvilke reklamer, man ønsker at se.

FAIL - Not an example about crossmedia (missed the part about the other media (like mobile etc) but ofc remediation.

But Bingobanko could be a crossmedia, because you'll need the homepage (to print out the (lotte-pladen)

Session - 4 - Crossmedia

What is cross-media?

Is a media property, service, story or experience distributed across media platforms using a variety of media forms.

It’s used all the time, as example we'll talk about the television show “Borgen” it’s a serie and on  the internet it’s possible to find a fictive newspaper (because “Borgen” is still a serie and therefore fictive). The cross media in this part is the link between the newspaper/movie itself. Even though you, as user, don’t have any effect (like change the storyline) in Borgen.
One of the best examples of crossmedia could be “Skjulte stjerner” where the viewer use sms’ to vote on the starts, and there’s no judge like Idols, therefore it’s only the viewer who can change the programs story.

Crossmedia communication is communication in which the storyline will invite the receiver to cross-over from one medium to the next. Making it possible to transform from one-dimensional communication (sender -> receiver(s)) to multi-dimensional communication (sender(s) <-> receiver(s)). Good crossmedia communication will enhance the value of communication: The level and depth of (message) involvement will be more personal and therefore more relevant and powerful.

3.2 - Execise: Thinking about remediation – what are your thoughts?

  • Give an example of some kind of “new media”

The Internet is one of the most important media in time. Mostly because the users have the ability to be passive and more aggressive in this media. Even though there are unlimited possibilities through this media, will it still be kind of an authentic experience. Because, even though it’s possible to live-stream and/or see videos from the real life (not animations) is it not possible for the user to outlive what they see at that exact moment.

Through the internet it is possible to make some kind of “exception” without thinking that way. For instance a smartphone (media 1) use the internet (media 2) to search on youtube.com (media 3), and maybe looking at movie about televisions (media 4), and in this television you’ll see an old movie (media 5), because the television is old etc. So without realizing it, people can search (through the internet) and by that update older media’s.  Even though the internet is “an old media” it will rebirth every single time it touch a new media, like smartphones, consoles (Playstation, X-box and Wii), pc and other kind of tables/televisions. So this media

  • How does this media distinguish itself from the old media?

Old media’s like television and theater, makes the person become passive and prevent them from interact. The internet is multi-media, sorted by customer to consumer or consumer to customer.

  • Where on the "remedation spectrum" can you place the media?

3.1 - Exercise: Find an example of a hypermedia where excess and glance used

Find an example of a hypermedia where excess (“overdrivelse”) and glance (“hurtigt”) is “used”.
Try to explain how a video affects me, compared to another media.

(Marilyn Manson – Sweet dreams)

(Amatur – Lasse Gjertsen)

Session - 3 - Hypermedia and Transperent media are the opposites with same desire

What’s the reality?  The realism in things can be expressed mind and body, how you feel the reality on the body, and how it affects your mind. An example could be at a concert, for instance you, can see the artist, light and listen to the music. The realism in the body is made by the scene setup, but also by the music itself (as waves). In addition the realism in the mind, can be expressed by the music, all people in the world have some difference opinions on songs. Therefore they will translate the music from a specified song, to their own kind of imagination/dream. Therefore music will affect persons different. This could also be represented to the artist itself, for instance Justin Bieber, all the “groupies” are called Beliebers, and are in some kind of weird way, addicted to him as person, as you can clearly hear I’m not a beleiber.

2.1 - Exercise: Collage

1.1 - Exercise: Photo

Session - 1 - What is Web Communications & Network Sociology?

This is the first time I have been introduced to the lesson: "Web Communications & Network Sociology"
Therefore it was obvious that we where all excited. The same seems  to happen for our new teacher Christian (age 37) who had to teach us, as class, for the first time.
He started to talk about how this course...

*/ The life without a mobile, TV, Internet:
My life would suck, I have to use an old phone again, but can’t remember any numbers (because of the mobile). The connection to my friends would be either stronger (because I see them a lot) or weaker (because I would never see them again due to lack of contact. Every night would be boring like hell, and every time I had to make a note, I needed a pen and paper.
On the bright side, I would be more fit, and maybe think about a lot of things, instead of turning my brain off and look at the TV or play some computer game  (on the net). */
